Lack of security

After reading many reviews of this resort and wondering what is fact and what is fiction, I have just returned and would like to add mine to the mix.

The Animation crew was great! Fun and inviting. Thanks to Julio (50/50), Chocolatte & Coffee for a great time. Julio was the best !!!

The food ranged from poor to excellent depending where you ate. I will list the positives first and the areas of opportunity second.
The Japanese Restaurant was great on the first night but just okay on the second visit.

The Italian Restaurant will not disappoint.. I had the seafood risotto that was the best I have ever had. Other items there were just as good with the exception of the eggplant rolletini.

The main buffet was predictable with quality that ranged from fair to good.

The See & Sea was not very good, the food was just down right yucky. Wherever you eat stay away from the cold cuts they are just funky looking.

The D M (after hours like night food place) was the worst of the worst. We were starving and tossed our food.

The service in some places was very good and in others was just okay. Although tipping was included with your package you can that it was expected and service depended on how well you tipped.

The drinks are good. The Mamajuna rocks. The only beer is Presedenti.

While on the subject of drinks, the bartenders make about $75.00 US per week and want to keep their jobs. Therefor they allow many guests to drink as much as they want. They will not stop a guest from taking a bottle from the bar and pouring their own drinks as they fear loosing their job because of a guest complaint.

The lack of security on the property mixed with an intoxicated guest does not make for a fun trip as I have witnessed in person.

Room cleaning was just okay at best. If you want good room service you have to tip.

The beach was great as well as the pool.

Bring what you need and just know that things at the resort like shampoo are way over priced.

To wrap things up...Food just okay in most cases...Drinks are unlimited but not top shelf...Rooms are nice and clean but room service is lacking...Lack of security is a major concern and the reason that I would not recommend this resort to any one reading this.

Hope this helps with you decision. If I had a choice I would pick another resort.
Best of luck.

We love this resort! on previous vacations to M.E. we have brought relatives ..and we all agree that we want to go back for another wonderful vacation! we are all going back! both my husband and I have travelled to resorts previously in mexico, dominican and jamaica..and by far, M.E is our favorite resort! i would like to add that no resort is going to be perfect, but M.E. is as close to perfect as it gets. we have not experienced any negative situations on our previous 3 vactions to M.E. Rooms are beautiful and clean. beach is gorgeous. food is fabulous...and in closing i would like to add, that we cannot say enough for the hard working and friendly staff! we have always stayed in the Elegance club suites on our previous vacations to M.E. feel free to ask me any questions re... M.E. can't wait to go back!!!!!

Room Number:
stayed in different rooms each visit in elegance club

Room Block:
club Ella building

Arrival:
arrival has always been very quick,,for the exception of having to wait for our room to be ready for us. due....to our arrival being too early for check in time. no worries,,as we had a great tour...couple drinks and some food while we waited.

Rooms:
cannot say enough about the beautiful and Clean rooms. okay people,,,,so you might not get facecloths....lol. who cares!!! rooms were well air conditioned also! not bugs...for the exception of a few little sand flies??? that might hang around.
not only were our rooms on our previous 3 visits cleaned daily,,but any problems with our rooms were dealt with promptly. example.. on our last visit, our dvd player in room was not working. on our 3rd night (later in the evening) we called our concierge and withing a few minutes we had an employee arrive to our room and replace it.

Restaurants and Bars:
fabulous!!!!!!

Beach/Pools/Grounds:
the best!

Activities on and off the Resort/Hotel:
didnt leave resort. although my husband and his brother have gone to play golf at the Punta cana golf resort,,,,which is next to resort and were happy with the golf course...although they did complain about the heat!!!!! ahahahaha

Other Comments:
in closing, i compliment the hard working and friendly staff!!!!!!!! i would also like to add that it offends me that people complain about the non-english speaking staff????? this totally confuses me,,as we have found the english very good...and after all...we are in their country right! cannot wait to see you all again!!!!!!

We spent five days at the Majestic Elegance and I can say it was the worse trip that I have ever taken. The service was terrible, the food was terrible and most of all the accomodations were terrible. As soon as we arrived to our room it had a smell of mildew, when we then notice on the vent that there was mold. Housekeeping was sent into the room and they sprayed some type of soloution to wipe it down, but it did not rid the smell that we had to endure for the duration of time we were there. We requested the room to be changed which fell upon death ears of the staff. We were already in a swim up suite which is supposed to be a top catagory suite, however it was not. All I can say I need a trip from this nightmare and I will never go back or refer anyone to this resort. Totally upset...............

Room Number:
2132

Room Block:
Junior Swimup Suite

Arrival:
7/27/11 - 7/31/11

Rooms:
I rented 3 rooms total for me and my family and my best friend also had 4 rooms.

Restaurants and Bars:
The food was not up to par in any of the resturants really, but the Japanese Resturant was ok.

Beach/Pools/Grounds:
Not that great.

Activities on and off the Resort/Hotel:
not much too do and no real interaction from the staff. The staff only really catered to the Caucasins which is said, because we all paid around the same amount of money to be there. But people of there skin color they seemed to ignore.

Other Comments:
Will not go to this Resort again. They need to make major changes and learn how to treat their guest. if their is a problem with the room then they should take care of it and not put a bandage on the problem. Mold and mildew is a major health condition for some and my rest was uncomfortable the entire time.

We were at the Majestic Elegance from July 26 - July 4, 2011. We are a mid-fifties couple and we traveled with our Daughter, Son-in-law and 10 year old grand son. This was our 5th time in the DR, having previously stayed at the Barcelo Bavaro Beach (2000), Barcelo Bavaro Palace (2002), and Iberostar Bavaro (2005, 2008). Contact me ckapell@yahoo.com with any questions.

Bottom line:
A fantastic vacation and I would recommend this resort. There were not a lot of kids there. There were definitely more over at the Colonial. Luckily my grandson met another boy his age the first day and they pal’d around all week. We ended up spending lots of time with his family that week and figure we have met some life long friends.

Room Block:
Building 2

Arrival:
Flights:
We flew in on Air Tran and all the flights were on time or early. Baggage handlers at the airport seem to be more aggressive than before. One basically tried to rip the bag out of my hand. If they would just ask politely I could make a rational decision, but their aggressiveness is a deterrent to using them.

Rooms:
Rooms:
We had read many reviews where people going to the Majestic Elegance had been bumped to different rooms or to different resorts. We came prepared to negotiate etc. since we had booked swim up rooms in the non-elegance section. When we checked in we were told that because the resort was full, we would not be able to get the swim up rooms. Uh Oh! Well then we were informed that we had been upgraded to the one bedroom suites on the second floor of building two! This turned out to be a good thing and a bad thing. Good thing: the room was fabulous and really turned out to be the best for my Daughter’s family. Bad thing: My wife informed me that if we return to the Majestic Elegance we need to get that room category, Cha-ching!! As I said the room was great with no real issues. I could see where some families could have a problem with the open bathroom layout. That was my wife’s only complaint in that she would like an enclosed bathroom. We (both rooms) never did figure out how to get the horizontal sprays in the shower to work. Once we got there we realized also that the swim up rooms just weren’t cracked up to be what we thought. I saw very few people using the space out front of theirs. It is a small patio & grassy area in front of the sliding glass door. The beds in front looked to be pretty badly weathered and hardly anyone using them. The only way into the pool is over the edge, not bad going in but it would be difficult for shorter and/or older people or children to get out as the edge is about 8 inches above the water probably at about 4 feet. Therefore most people were using the other side of the pool. The only way I see the swim up rooms being an advantage is if you wanted to be able to lay young children down for a nap and still be outside close or in the pool, but then you have the danger of them falling into the pool.

Restaurants and Bars:
Restaurants:
See & Sea: We ate there everyday for lunch and found the food and service pretty good. We ate there once for dinner, food and service was fine. We ate there breakfast 3 or 4 times, (served after 10:00 am). Food was good, service was a little spotty. The Sea and Sea is a nice place to sit on the deck at night with the ocean breezes and a cocktail. There was a 4 piece band traveling from table to table playing requests for tips. “Country Roads” with a Dominican lilt!

Japanese:
We ate there once. It is fun and the food was good. You have to get up early for reservations. Ours were for 9:30 pm. We arrived at 7:30 pm and asked if they could fit us in, they did at 8:00!

Steak:
We ate there three times. Food was excellent and service was excellent. Overall this was the best restaurant. Hint: Order you meat one step higher than you normally do. If you want medium, order medium-well, if you want medium-rare, order medium, etc. Also if you are used to a 12-16 oz portion, order two meals

Italian:
We ate there two times. Food was good and service was excellent. Overall the second best restaurant.

Flavors Buffet:
Ate 3-4 Breakfasts and 1 dinner, typical AI buffet, Service was good

Food in general:
All four of the adults in our group suffered some sort of gastro-intestinal fluidity. I do not know the reason because there was no real common denominator other than alcohol, ….hmmm. Some of us thought it might be the oil that is used in all the cooking especially on the grill. Personally I think it was too much different food, too many drinks and not enough water. I attacked it with heavy artillery: Pepto, Immodium and Zantac. Pepto seemed to work the best, no wonder that product has been around for so long. Next time I am taking two bottles.

Activities on and off the Resort/Hotel:
Shows:
We saw the Circus, Michael Jackson, 70’s music and Ideal Couple

Circus:
I thought it was boring, being in the last row and being tired didn’t help

Michael Jackson:
Excellent production and the family really enjoyed. My grandson had is groove on LOL. We got there at 8:45 for the 10:00 pm show and got third row

70’s Music:
Disco music with good dancers. It was enjoyable

Ideal Couple:
Funny competition between couples, could be a little risqué for tweens. Over the head of younger ones

Animation Staff
They were great!!! Chocolate and Spaghetti went out of their way to make sure my grandson felt included and special. My grandson said this vacation was better than Disney!!

Excursions:
The only thing we did was go parasailing through the dive shop associated with the hotel on the beach. The cost was $89 for two people/tandem. I went with my wife while my son-in-law went with my grandson. We have been thinking about doing it for 20 years and glad we did as it was fun. The roller coaster, rocket sled ride on the shuttle boat to the main boat did more to scare my grandson more than anything else. Also the parasailing crew was pretty rude always yelling hurry up as they moved us around the boat. My wife was ready to rip them a new one. I know they are trying to get in as many rides they can a day, but this was a little over the top

Other Comments:
Biggest irritation:
1. The person who took my two towels off my chairs so that I had to go grovel at customer relations
2. The blisters from my new sandals!!

My husband and I decided to travel to Punta Cana to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. The trip was everything we could have hoped for. The hotel grounds are breathtaking, the hotel itself definitely majestic, and the staff are wonderful, friendly and helpful!!! We had the most amazing time!! We recommend this destination and this hotel to anyone looking for an amazing time! We will definitely be making a return! The room we had was gorgeous, and when we booked it originally we were unable to get a room in the elegance club(adults only section)as it was full. I had called the desk before our trip and let them know that if there was any way we could get into the elegance club we would be very happy. We were politely told that at the time there were no rooms available but we could keep checking. Lo and behold when we arrived to check in we were told by the hotel clerk that there was a room available and we were upgraded to it for no charge! It was the start of a beautiful and amazing 10 days. I cant say enough good things about this place. Everyone from the porters, to the bartenders to the waitresses to the grounds crew were soooo friendly and happy and willing to do anything to make you happy. We did have a few dark spots to the trip but they had nothing to do with the hotel or the staff but from other hotel guests. It just goes to show you that you can take an unhappy person, and put them in the most beatiful place on earth, bend over backwards to make them happy and they are still going to be miserable. Even these rude ungrateful guests were treated with the utmost kindness and desire to please when they really didnt seserve it.
Majestic Elegance Punta Cana is service at its best! Great setting, beautiful location, warm friendly staff and amazing beach! Fun for all! We are planning on going back next year and this time we will take our 2 sons with us! Majestic Elegance here we come!!!

Room Number:
4409

Arrival:
We arrived, checked in received a free upgrade to the elegance club and were given a cool refreshing towel for our faces and hands. Then we were shown to our beautiful room with a gorgeous view!

Rooms:
Amazing, beautiful wonderful...what more can I say. The in room jacuzzi was wonderful!!!

Restaurants and Bars:
Restuarants were good, but for more choices we ended up eating at the buffet most nights. The bars were plentiful and enjoyable.

Beach/Pools/Grounds:
beach was gorgeous, pink white powder like sand and crystal blue waters full of amazing fish! We snorkeled for the first time and saw tons of fish right off the beach!

A little slice of heaven..I have one negative comment and it almost isn't even worth writing about, but the pillows are not the greatest. I can live with that though. The pool was massive, extremely clean, and lots of comfortable loungers.
The beach was fabulous, lots of chairs and shade huts, but u do need to get down there early enough in the morning.
We went to two a la carte's out of four, and they were both delicious. The two buffets serving three meals a day were both excellent, lots of choices even for the fussiest of eaters.
Rooms were absolutely beautiful, lovely balcony with great view of the pool, the the cleaning staff was amazing.
Weather was perfect, excursions a lot of fun with very knowledgeable tour guides. I am planning my next trip for spring 2012, and am going to the very same place, I can't wait!!!

Arrived in the afternoon, check in was very quick. Had time to go to the room, drop of luggage, change, go down to walk in the water, explore the resort, and have dinner. Staff is amazingly friendly and very helpful.

Would grow up and act like the resort they profess to be.
No face cloths at all, skipped house keeping 3 of 7 days, skipped fridge service, beach towels were available first come first served and they ran out early every day. Staff were outside your doors before 7 am every day cleaning, so sleeping in and relaxing is not an option.service and necessities are lacking here, otherwise, for the eye, it is a nice resort.I would return to the D.R. again for the beach only, the resorts are mammoth and there is no personal touch whatsoever, the staff do their best yet I believe they are overwhelmed and understaffed at the best of times.

Room Number:
4106

Room Block:
2

Arrival:
As has become the norm with Air Transat, after we booked our vacation and of course paid for it, they called to tell us that our flight, because of labor unrest would be leaving Toronto at 4pm, instead of 8 am, thus completely cutting an entire day off our already abbreviated vacation. We arrived at the airport at 8:10 pm and were hustled across a parking lot to sit in a hot musty bus while we waited for all the other guests to make their way to the buses, this took app. 1/2 hour or so. Air Transat, rather than posting in plain view, the bus numbers and resorts, made everyone wait in a line up, one at a time, to make this enquiry. Huge waste of time and lack of planning. After everyone was finally on board, the milk run through the resorts began and eventually, one would end up at their destination. The drivers , if you can call them that, are completely devoid of any safe driving habits and speeding and unsafe passing and lane changes are the norm here, I personally would have preferred a cab.
Checkin was pretty quick, one fella led us about, gave us his cell and said he was available 24-7, this was the only time I saw this person and the two times I requested him, he was not available. Laughable and a disappointment.

Rooms:
The room was a pleasant surprise, amazing in all aspects, jacuzzi, stone and tile throughout, well appointed and beautifully decorated, a-one top notch here.
The only downfall was the ever present musty smell and the ac, preset to what I deemed 78-82, and the wall gauge read 20.5 c. I live and work in Alberta and we maintain 20c year round, it was much warmer in the rooms. We had friends from Vegas , they brought temperature gauge which showed room temp at 77F while room gauge maintained 20.5C.

Restaurants and Bars:
The buffets, first come best served, the food was good when early, dried up and not kept full. There is no protection from insects so one would always have to face the unsightly fly assault on all the food. At home , for barberques, we have screened domes to prevent the bugs. I am sure they are available in the Dominican.
The Italian restaurant, was more seafood than anything else, if you want Italian, pass on this one. Food we had was good though, but very small portions.
Highlight was staff, all good here.
The steak house, by far the best I've saw, bar none south of the US border, great cuts of meat, done the way you request and appetizers and desserts did not disappoint. We ate there every evening.

Beach/Pools/Grounds:
The draw for us in the D.R. and what brought us back the second time is the beach, nicest I have ever saw and if nothing else brought us back, this would be the draw. Stunning , well groomed and kept.
The grounds are like all resorts, beautiful, lush and well maintained, the pools are well set up and inviting. There was a dead rat in one of the fountains early one morning, but I guess you can't get away from that, the following day, coincidentally, there were three of natures great mouse hunters patrolling the grounds. Everything in this aspect was above and beyond, two thumbs up!

Activities on and off the Resort/Hotel:
Plenty to do and see, same o same o though and repetitive. We did a speedboat and catamaran tour, first beach , everyone was chewed by sand fleas, bring bug spray until they figure out spraying would make it more enjoyable. I find the excursions and attractions do not vary from resort to resort and once you have done it once, better to enjoy the resort.

Other Comments:
We were on the resort for 8 days, three days our room did not get made up, two days we had to call and request a fridge refill. We did not over the entire vacation have a facecloth in our room, we requested then day after day after day and were finally told, they did not have face cloths, annoyed now, I made 8 out of two hand towels. On three occasions, there were also no beach towels available , so the day before laundry had to suffice and in the D.R. nothing dries out, period! Careful with room selection as well, as nice as our room was, the patio was set on the staff walkway around the resort backed by jungle and 12 foot chain link fence. The atmosphere was continually interrupted by speeding garbage trucks, laundry and supply vehicles and an exodus of staff to and from the beach area. Better to leave the blinds closed.

I would love to travel back to this resort again. it was amazing. Beautiful rooms and propery. The beach and pools are amazing. The food was excellent for a an all-inclusive resort.
The only draw back was how strict they were with the dress code in the dining areas. a couple very well dressed were not allowed to be seated due the the fact the gentleman( whom looked around 75) was wearing open toed rockport sandals. they had to go back to their room which was a good 15 min walk one way and were part of the exclusive elegance club! another family that were dressed well were not allowed to be seated because their 8 year old son was wearing long khaki shorts, they went back to their room and got him changed into long pj solid color pants...they were allowed to eat then. I am a very classy person and felt theses people who paid thousands of dollars for this luxury resort were degraded!!!!

Rooms:
excellent

Restaurants and Bars:
excellent...other than service(poor to good) due to very strict dress code enforcement. People r on vacation for reason lol

Beach/Pools/Grounds:
excellent

Activities on and off the Resort/Hotel:
good..ok

Majestic Elegance Jan 2011
A friend and I vacationed at the Majestic Elegance in the Elegance Club section for 2 weeks from Jan 17th-31, 2011. This was our 9th trip to Punta Cana, and our 6th stay at an Adults Only resort (or section). The 2 weeks at the Majestic just flew by and it was time to pack and come home before we knew it! The weather was the best we have had in all our trips. 14 days of sun and heat! Rain was only either over night or first thing in the morning and only lasted about 15 mins. As expected there were good and bad but the good certainly far outweighed the bad overall. Overall rating 8.5/10

In conclusion – The resort over all was great but for us comparing it to other 5 star resorts in the same price range that we have been to, it fell a little short. Had we not had such great experiences at other similar resorts in the DR we would not have been so critical. But the fact is we have been to a few great resorts and we cannot say this was the best of the best. But this does not mean we do not think it is a great resort and would be perfect for most people. Overall we had a great 2 week stay at this fine resort and would not hesitate to recommend it to others.

Room Number:
4334

Arrival:
Check-in was simple. We were greeted at the lobby by Jordi and our butler and he lead us through the resort pointing out where restaurants, bars, services etc were located. We ended up in the Club Lounge where our butler proceeded to do our check-in. He took us to our room and explained how everything worked. We were off to a great start! There was a bottle of Champagne in the room upon arrival. Luggage did take longer than necessary to arrive (even had to go down to the lounge to check on it) and we had to wait in our room to be there to claim it.

Club Lounge and section – although this did fall a little short of what we had last year in the Preferred Club at Dreams it was very nice. The lounge had free unlimited internet computers, snacks, bottled water and coffee, and a concierge desk where you would exchange your towels and make your dinner reservations as well as any requests you had. There were plenty of bali beds and padded loungers around both club sections and we never had problems finding one. The Club beach section also was nice and had plenty of loungers available both in and out of the shade. For us the Elegance Club upgrade was well worth it. Elegance Club Section 9/10

Rooms:
Room-10/10: We were given room 4334, in building 4, 3rd floor. The rooms on this side of the building faced the empty lot next door with great ocean views, palm trees and gorgeous sunrises. For us this location was perfect and was one of the best views we have had. I could even lay in bed and look out at the ocean! The room was huge and nicely laid out. There was plenty of closet space, a programmable safe and a nice sitting area with a Jacuzzi tub. The balcony was a good size and included a table and two chairs as well as a small clothes rack. There were 4 bottles of liquor in the room that would be replenished as requested. The maid did a great job most days and our room was done by noon (as we had requested). Sheets were changed almost every day. The mini bar service was the best we have had – everything was replenished as we used it. There was plenty of hot water and the pressure was good both in the shower and the tub. The one down side to the room was the A/C was a little on the weak side and the room was kind of warm at times, especially at night when going to bed.

Restaurants and Bars:
Food: Buffet -9.5/10: The layout of the main buffet would have to be the best we have experienced in our travels. It was a large restaurant with lots of space between the tables and a separate large food section which never seemed crowded. There was always a great selection of dishes which changed daily. Most things were well labeled. The staff was constantly checking and replacing trays of food as needed. Service was also very good, glasses were never empty and dirty dishes were cleared right away. There were no carts here laden with stacks of dirty dishes – they were taken away to a separate section and then to the kitchen asap. Overall we found the service at the buffet for breakfast and lunch better then we received some nights at the a la cartes.
A La Cartes – 8/10: There are 5 a la carte restaurants at the ME; Steakhouse, Japanese, Gourmet, Italian, and Seafood. There is also a Sushi Bar as part of the Japanese that you can make use of any night you wish. We made a meal of the Sushi one night and also did it as our appetizer course another. For us the a la cartes overall were a let down. I try to choose resorts that have a number of a la cartes and that offer unlimited access since for dinner we like to dress up a bit and go out for a pre-dinner drink, a nice leisurely dinner and an after dinner coffee or drink. This was not the case at the ME a la cartes as most of them had what I came to call a pub atmosphere instead of a nice restaurant atmosphere. Service at several of the nights left much to be desired; once each at the Sea & See, the Steakhouse and the Italian. On two occasions our main courses arrived at the table before our appetizer dishes were cleared away. Also on several occasions our orders were screwed up. The food however on the most part was quite good if a bit salty at times, but there was nothing outstanding that we had at any restaurant that we wanted to rush back to have another night. However the steak at the Steakhouse was quite good and even well done enough for me. The portions for us were a good size and not the heaping plates of food where you have to send half of it back. The deserts were even bite size. We ate at the Gourmet, Italian and Sea & See 3 times each; the Steakhouse twice; and the Japanese once. If I had to choose a favorite I would probably say the Gourmet since it had more of the atmosphere we look for in an a la carte and I liked the Curry Shrimp & Grouper dish. The main problem with the Gourmet however was as others have mentioned the limited menu with only 4 appetizers and 4 main courses. However the best dining out evening was our second visit to the Italian Restaurant. It was an outstanding night service wise – our server even helped us choose dishes and surprised us with extras - and the food was very good too. However I would not rate this as tops since our 1st visit was horrible and our 3 was just OK.

Beach/Pools/Grounds:
Layout and Grounds-10/10: The grounds at ME were very lush and easy to get around. The walk from the lobby to the beach was under 10 mins. They had covered walkways between the room buildings all the way from the Club lounges to the lobby area. The Elegance Club section is nicely laid out and is somewhat isolated from the main section. The only thing you need to leave the Club section for is to eat – although they do have light snacks available at the Club Lounge all day. The main lobby area was quite grand and one of the most upscale ones we have seen. The grand staircase looks like something out of an Opera Theatre. The whole resort is kept very clean with staff even constantly cleaning windows and polishing floors.

Other Comments:
Best Stuff of note about the ME:
- The Lobby bars were quite large and had plenty of seating.
- They had (at least for Club members) one of the best selections of international drinks we have had including Clamato juice for Caesars and they never seemed to run out.
- The special Club Party nights were a nice touch
- The servers go around the Club pool with daily special drinks and popsicles
- Never had a problem booking the 2 a la cartes that required reservations and never had to wait for a table at the others –although we did have to take a table in the main section of the Steakhouse because the Club section was full (this was not a problem with us)
- Several servers got to know us and what we drank and would even have our drinks ready without us asking
- Never had to go to the front desk once – everything was done at the Club Lounge
- Never had a problem finding a place in the shade either at the pool or the beach
- The Bali beds were plentiful around both Club pools and they quite comfy.
- You never have to go far to find a bar

Good Stuff of note at the ME:
- Language was not a problem here – but they did seem to really appreciate it when you did try to use some Spanish.
- The whole resort was kept very clean even the bathrooms were almost immaculate.
- Our Butler either called or when he saw us asked how our stay was going
- Beach towels were easily picked up and exchanged in the club lounge. Yes they were usually out late in the day but this is to be expected.
- If you are not that hungry there is enough snack food available at the Club lounge for a light breakfast or lunch

Not So Good Stuff: (but none of which ruined our vacation)
- Some bar tenders were asking for our room number every so often when we ordered our drinks
- There was no rhyme or reason as to when the Roof Top Club Bars were open
- Servers insisted on switching glass glasses for plastic ones whenever you left the bar even if it was just to go to an a la carte
- Dress code not enforced
- Adult’s Only and Club Members Only not enforced in Club Lounge
- Inconsistent service
- Smoking was allowed at the Sea & See a la carte – it has been a long time since we have had to eat at a restaurant where smoking was allowed so it really was noticeable.
- At other resorts they have usually asked if we would like an after dinner drink but this was never offered at any of the restaurants here and in fact I usually had to specifically ask for a Cappuccino. And only once at lunch time were we offered a shot of mamajauna
- Twice we had to go down to the Club Lounge to get new room keys since our old ones stop working

I've stayed at 3 other resorts in Punta Cana. The RIU Bambu, Bavaro Princess Suites and Bahai Principe. The Majestic Elegance surpasses these others by a long shot. Truly a 5 Star. I don't usually go back to places a second time but I will definitely be back to the Elegance.
We went with 2 other couples and they all agree it was the best.

Room Number:
2202

Room Block:
Building closest to Lobby

Arrival:
Check in was quick but rooms were not ready. Went for a bite to eat and within an hour they were ready. Smooth and easy.

Rooms:
Very spacious and clean. Needed towel to block water going on the floor from shower. Fully stocked mini bar means 2 beer, 4 water and 4 soft drinks. Coffee-maker in room was good.

Restaurants and Bars:
Never had a bad meal. The buffet was always plentiful even for the pickiest eaters. Went to 4 of the 5 a la cartes. The only one we didn't go to is the French Gourmet. Italian 5 star, Steakhouse 4 Star, Japanese 4 star and the Seafood 4 star. Was hoping for more lobster but limited available.
Bar service was exceptional. Several waitresses on the beach all the time. As well, there was always servers at the pools. They will fill your cups from home no problems.

Beach/Pools/Grounds:
Best beach, pool and grounds I've seen. People are always puttering away but never a bother. Pictures on the website are old. Grounds are much more lush and beautiful.

Activities on and off the Resort/Hotel:
Typical resort activities. Water aerobics, salsa dancing, bingo, bikini contests. The shows at night were fine but not spectacular.
1- Michael Jackson, 2- Circus, 3- Magicians, 4- 70s and 80s night, 5- Newlywed game..etc..
Excursions. Did Boogie Buggys and had a great time. Got very dirty in the mud. The other excursion was the Caribbean festival. Suppose to swim with the sharks and stingrays. Very, very little time doing this. Was very disappointing.

Other Comments:
Majestic Elegance in Punta Cana has been trip I've experienced so far. Below is a list of my experiences.
2 Carnival cuises, Acapulco 3 times, Cancun once, Cozumel once, Varadero Cuba once, Jamaica once, Grand Caymen once. 18 Florida trips to many parts.

Hope this was useful.
